Divergence from A Hymnal of the Heart
We have made some intentional changes from HotH were we believe the deviation was warranted to improve usability, or where we were correcting errors. Below are the known deviations:
- Hymn 18
- The penultimate note was changed from a dotted quarter note to a half note. We did not find the syncopated version in other hymnals, and concluded that it was likely a mistake in the original.
- Hymn 34 & 35
- The first of the two notes in the slur at the end of the first page was changed from a dotted quarter note to a half note. We did not find the syncopated version in other hymnals, and concluded that it was likely a mistake in the original.
- Hymn 47
- The final section marked “Conclusion” is written in a different key in HotH. We did not find a similar key change in other hymals, and concluded that this was likely a mistake in the original.
- Hymn 101
- This is a new hymn written by the Reverend Kurt Hein. It does not appear in HotH.
